Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone's responsibility. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as: protecting children from maltreatment; preventing impairment of children's health or development; ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.  (DfE, Keeping Children Safe in Education, September 2020).

The Designated Teacher for Child Protection is: Mrs C Mortimer, Deputy Head Teacher who is jointly responsible with Ms C Longley, Head Teacher, Mr A Cawthorne, Assistant Head Teacher and Mr E Bisley, Assistant Head Teacher for safeguarding arrangements.

Please contact the designated teacher if you have any concerns regarding a pupil at Hurst Primary School.

Our 'named governor' with special responsibility for child protection is Mrs Charlotte Sharp.

Our School Policies can be found on the About Us/Policies Tab of this website.  Hard copies of all our policies can be obtained by contacting the school office either by email, telephone or in person.

Our Safeguarding Policy is updated and reviewed annually by Governors in the spring term.  It is acknowledged that there are regular updates to safeguarding procedures and protocols from HM Government, the Department for Education and the London Child Protection Procedures.  These changes are noted on a termly basis and staff trained accordingly.
