Helping Your Child Learn to Read
If your child is in KS2, it is still so important to continue to listen to them read and enjoy a discussion about the text. Let them use their phonic skills to decode difficult words and ask them about meanings of new vocabulary. Encourage them to make connections with their own life experiences and discuss what is happening in a fiction text. Look at the layout of a non-fiction text and discuss features such as headings, sub-titles and bullet points.
