We are not makers of history. We are made by history.” – Martin Luther King Jr
Welcome to our History curriculum page. At Hurst Primary, we recognise the importance of studying history as a means of understanding the world around us and shaping our future.
Our History curriculum goes beyond memorising dates and events; it is about exploring diverse narratives and viewpoints to gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of the past. We believe in providing pupils with a well-rounded education that encompasses a wide range of historical perspectives, including those often overlooked or marginalised.
Through engaging lessons, immersive experiences, and interactive projects, pupils develop critical thinking skills and empathy as they uncover the stories of people from different cultures, backgrounds, and time periods.
Please find below the subject vision, whole school long-term plan, concept road map and an example of a medium-term plan.
